The financial aid funding is listed in the order it is generally disbursed to the students. Please remember that it is extremely important to complete your financial aid paperwork as soon as possible. Students interested in applying for financial aid should contact the Financial Aid Office for information and application materials.

SWC Higher Ed – 1st Payment:
• Processed each year after last day to drop a class (school calendar). Faculty also has two days to submit administrative drops. The Registrar must enter all drops into the computer and provide updated student rosters to the Financial Aid/Business Office.
• Grades and G.P.A.’s must be checked for each student.
• Financial aid student budgets are completed for each student.
• Credits for students are checked. The student must be enrolled in 9 or more credits to be eligible.
• Probation and/or suspensions are identified and letters are sent to students.
• Higher Ed award list is submitted to the Business Office.
• The Business Office must check all student registration files for credits, registration fees, lab fees, book invoices, old bills, etc. before a check can be processed. After the Business Office receives the official award list it takes approximately 2 weeks to process checks.

American Indian College Fund Scholarships:
• Processed each year after last day to drop a class (school calendar). Faculty also has two days to submit administrative drops.
• Available scholarships and deadlines are announced each semester when funds are received from AICF.
• Students generally have two weeks to apply on-line with AICF.
• Credits and G.P.A.’s are checked for each student. Students must be enrolled in 9 or more credits in order to be eligible. Student must also have a 2.00 G.P.A.
• Financial aid student budgets are completed for each student if needed.
• Once eligibility is determined a Scholarship Committee meeting is scheduled to review applications and do awards.
• AICF scholarship award list is submitted to the Business Office.
• Denial letters are sent to students if applicable.
• After the Business Office receives the official award list it takes approximately 5-7 days to process the checks.

SWC Higher Ed – 2nd Payment:
• Processed after the last day to withdraw (school calendar). Faculty also has two days to submit administrative withdrawals.
• Credits are checked again for each student.
• Higher Ed award list is submitted to the Business Office.
• After the Business Office receives the official award list it takes approximately 5-7 days to process the checks.

FAFSA (Pell Grant):
• Processed for disbursement 3o days after 1st day of school.
• These dates are established to insure that students will have earned the Pell award and that no student will have to repay their Pell award amount for not completing the semester.
• G.P.A.’s and attendance is checked for each student.
• Credits are also checked for each student.
• Once eligibility is determined an award list is submitted to the Business Office.
• After the Business Office receives the official award list the checks are processed in 5-7 days.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG):
• Awards are generally completed a couple of weeks after Pell awards.
• Awards at SWC usually range from $100.00 to $300.00 per semester.
• All full time students with zero EFC are given first priority when disbursing FSEOG funds.
• After the Business Office receives the official award list the checks are processed in 5-7 days.
