Hau mitakuyepi, Eric DuMarce emakiyapi do. (Hello my relatives, my name is Eric DuMarce.) I am a Dakota language instructor here at SWC. I am proud to say that I have gained the majority of my education and credentials from my community at the Lake Traverse reservation. I graduated from Tiospa Zina Tribal School in 2002 then came to SWC where I received two A.A. degrees in General Studies and Dakota Studies. From there I continued my education at the University of Minnesota, Morris, earning a B.A. with a double major in History and American Indian Studies. I then returned to the Sisseton Wahpeton College and completed the Dakota Language Teaching Certificate program. It has always been a goal of mine to return to SWC as an instructor. I have now accomplished that goal and began sharing what I have been taught about the Dakota language in the Fall semester of 2016. I am a proud father of three children and hope that we, as a community of learners and educators, can work together to sustain and revitalize the Dakota language and oral tradition.
